Obituary for Clarence Nelson DeLong

Clarence “Swappy” DeLong, 86, of Pennsburg, passed on February 14, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in East Greenville, PA on March 31, 1930 to Lola (Drumm) and Wilferd DeLong. He and his wife Marlene (Moll) DeLong celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 19, 2017. He was a 1948 graduate of Pennsburg High School. He served honorably in the US Army (1952-1954) during the Korean War. He worked at Pennsburg Clothing Co. and Stroh’s Brewery, retiring in 1995. Swappy was an avid gardener, often sharing fruits and vegetables with family and friends. In his retirement years, he enjoyed restoring old steamer trunks for resale and spending his Mondays at the Perkiomenville Auction.
He is survived by his wife, children: Denise (Andy) Natalie of West Lawn, PA, David (Kathy) DeLong of Dover, DE, and Daniel (Vanessa) DeLong of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a sister: Pat Reinhart of Pottstown, PA.
Services: will be Monday, 11AM, New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041. Friends and family are welcome to call beginning at 10AM.
