Dear Custer Family,
We here at the Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA are very sad to hear of Richard / Tiny's passing away.
He was a personal favorite of many of us. He was a fixture at the Y for many years. I was so glad he came in to chat with me a little while ago. But was sad he could not enjoy the new facility as much as he wanted.
He had such great physical strength and good eyesight....and he delighted let us know too! But when he took his hearing aids out - whoa, talks with him were more like yelling matches! Lots of fun.
I did enjoy a number of heart-to-heart talks with him. His candor and straightforward manner made those conversations well worth-while for both of us.
Altogether, as you can tell, we (me mostly) will miss him.
