Obituary for Jane Marie Breininger (Reeder)

Jane Breininger, 89, passed away on July 13, 2017 at the At Home and Palliative Care Facility in Schnecksville, Pa. She was a loving wife and mother, and a dedicated teacher. She is now in the loving arms of Her Lord and reunited with her devoted husband, Harlan. Jane, daughter of Ralph and Mary Reeder, was born in Paxinos, Irish Valley, in Northumberland County, PA, where she resided until her family moved to Fogelsville, PA. Jane graduated as Valedictorian from eighth grade at Weisenberg school, and graduated from South Whitehall High School in 1945. She went on to attend Kutztown State Teachers College and graduated Cum Laude. Jane spent a year teaching Second grade in the Parkland School District. However, one of her proudest accomplishments was starting the first Kindergarten class in Conyngham, Pa. in 1959. She taught there until moving to Hellertown in 1966. She then continued her teaching career at Hellertown with the Saucon Valley School District, until her battle with multiple sclerosis forced her to retire in 1988.Throughout her life, Jane was devoted to her family, her church, and continued taking courses in Christian Education, and teaching Sunday School.
Jane married her loving husband, the Rev.Harlan, ”Salty” Breininger on June 25, 1949. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June,25,1999, at which time they renewed their vows. Jane and Salty traveled extensively through most of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, and Europe. They were able to attend the wedding of their exchange student in Finland. Jane was preceded in death by her husband and caregiver Harlan in 2009. She was also preceded by her brothers Waldo, Martin, Bland and Leon Reeder, and sister Pearl Heintzelman.
Surviving are her son, Randy and wife Paulette, of Richlandtown, Pa. along with their son Owen Breininger and wife Laura and their 2 daughters Madylin Jane, and Mia Ann.
Also surviving are daughter MaryJane and husband John Fridman, of Bloomsburg, Pa., their children Katie Smith and Joshua Fridman and Jane’s additional great grandchildren Keedaysha and Zachariah Smith. Surviving sisters include Leona Knerr, and Kay Kleinshuster. Jane cherished her family, including numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at 11 AM at Lower Saucon United Church of Christ, 1375 Third Ave. Hellertown, PA18055. All are invited to gather with the family from 10 – 10:45 AM in the church. Jane’s memorial service arrangements are entrusted to the care of Falk Funeral Home, Hellertown, PA.
