Barrie G. McMath, 87, of Springtown, PA and formerly of Far Hills, NJ, passed away on August 18, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Bond) McMath. Born in London, England, he was the son of the late Charles and Jessie (McKinnon) McMath. He was born of Scottish parents and spent most of his life in Scotland. Barrie was a graduate of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. He received a MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He began his career as a chemist for Allied Chemical, and later became a chemical market researcher for Exxon and finally for BASF. As a resident of Far Hills, NJ, Barrie was a member of both the Town Council and the Planning Board. Since 1975, he raised, showed, and judged Bernese Mountain Dogs. He was a member of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America, as well as of Watchung, NJ. He also belonged to the Schooley’s Mountain Kennel Club. More recently, he was a member of the Silver Creek Country Club, Hellertown. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his dogs and family.
Surviving with his wife, are children: Elizabeth McMath, of Walnut Creek, CA; Mary McMath, of St. Louis, MO; David McMath, of East Hardwick, VT; and Alice McCune, of Basking Ridge, NJ; and 7 grandchildren: Keilidh and Linnea McMath; Alexandra Schnarre; and Matheson, Patrick, Brendan, and Emily McCune.
