Obituary for Marlene Mae Bivighouse (Kern)

Marlene M. (Kern) Bivighouse, 76, of Red Hill and formerly of Pennsburg and Green Lane, passed away on September 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late James R. Bivighouse who passed away in 2001. Born in Sellersville, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Esther (Bergey) Kern. She worked at various sewing factories in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, the former Philco Ford in Lansdale, and the former Plummer Optics in Pennsburg. She also cleaned at the Green Lane Fire Company with her husband for 20 years from 1974 to 1994. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sumneytown.
Surviving are her children: James and his wife Cynthia of Green Lane; Michael and his wife Brenda of Pennsburg; Brenda, wife of Jim Miller of Red Hill; Linda, wife of Kevin Hunsberger of Pottstown; and Michelle Harvey of Trumbauersville; sister: Jane Avender, of Dublin; brothers: Russell Kern, of Sellersville; Larry Kern and his wife, Dusty, of Quakertown; and Brian Kern, of Red Hill; grandchildren: Jennifer, Christopher, David, Jessica, Ryan, Dennis Jr., Jason, Stacy, Lenee, and Melinda; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Ashley who passed away last August; and sisters: Gloria Tucker and Rose Nace.
Services: All are invited to a viewing from 11 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, with services at 12 PM at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St. Pennsburg, PA 18073. Interment will follow with her husband at Limerick Garden of Memories.
