Obituary for Joseph Philip Senft

Dr. Joseph Philip Senft, PhD, 80, of Philadelphia, passed away September 18, 2017. Born in York County, PA, he was a son of the late Rev. E. Philip & Beryl (Leik) Senft. Joseph received degrees from Juniata College, the Univ. of Buffalo NY, and the Univ. of Maryland. During his career was a Neurophysiology Professor at Rutgers University, at Juniata College and did research at the Marine Biology Laboratories in Wood’s Hole, MA and Rodale. Joseph was an avid runner. He sang in choruses in the United States and abroad. He enjoyed classical music, especially opera and organ music. He was a political activist and loved philosophy.

Surviving are children: Miriam Senft, wife of Shlomo Ben-Yaacor, of Blooming Grove, NY; and Linda Senft and Brian Senft, both of Allentown; siblings: Stephen Senft, and his wife, Susan, of Lexington, KY; Nathan Wallace-Senft, and his wife, Anne Wallace-Senft, of Bennington, VT; and Hannah Senft, of Manasas, VA.
