Karl W. “Moose” Winsch, 81 of East Greenville, passed away June 20, 2018. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Briggs) Feldman. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Karl E. and Evelyn (Geary) Winsch. Karl was a 1955 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, where he was a member of the 1953 Championship Football Team. He was a Master Mason for the Nester Brothers, Pennsburg, before retiring in 1998. He was a deacon and usher at New Goshenhoppen UCC for many years. He served as the area’s chairman for the former American Cancer Society Crusade, was a member of the Upper Perkiomen Youth Task Force, and was voted “Outstanding Man” of 1969 in the Upper Perkiomen Region by the Jaycees. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan.
Most notably, he was very active in scouting, serving as the Scoutmaster of Troop #108 in East Greenville for 40 years. During his tenure, he achieved many adult awards, including the Order of Merit, the Wood Badge, the Scouter’s Key, the Silver Beaver, and the James E. West Fellowship Award. He loved Camp Horseshoe in Rising Sun, MD and returned every summer as a staff member. Karl was a member of the Order of the Arrow, which included membership in the Unami Lodge #1, the Octararo Lodge #22, and the Delmont Lodge #43.
Surviving with his wife, are children: Kim, wife of Glenn Miller, of Green Lane; Kay Diehl, and her fiancé, Mike Miller, of Emmaus; Michael Feldman, of East Greenville; and Deborah, wife of Wally Golembski, of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Evelyn Oberholtzer, of Blandon; brothers: Larry and Kevin, of Rock Hill, NC; grandchildren: Monica, Allison, Jimi, Karl, and Kimberley; great-grandchildren: Brayden, Kelsea, and Aurora Kay; a beloved nephew: Steve Oberholtzer, and other loved nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Robert and Keith, and a sister, Dorothy Shane.
All are invited to a viewing from 9-11 AM on Tuesday at the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm; followed by funeral services in the sanctuary at 11AM. Interment will be private.
