Obituary for Randal H. Breininger

Randy Breininger, 67, of Richlandtown, PA passed away surrounded by family and friends in St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem on October 15, 2018 following a long, brave battle in Jeanes Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Born in Mahoning, PA he was a son to the late Reverend Harlan and Jane (Reeder) Breininger. Randy was a devoted husband to Paulette (Turek) Breininger for 43 years. Randy was a loving father to Owen and his wife, Laura, and was thrilled to be a Pop Pop to grandchildren: Mady and Mia. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Jane, wife of John Fridman. Randy earned his bachelor’s degree from Catawba College, Salisbury NC, a master’s degree in Social Restoration and a master’s degree in Special Education both from Lehigh University. Randy co-founded an alternative school in Montgomery County that served at risk students for 36 years. Prior to his death, he taught at Perkiomen Valley High School in Collegeville, PA working with students in 9th & 10th grades who needed emotional support. Randy was an avid dog lover and gifted trainer. For many years he volunteered for dog rescue organizations. He coached baseball and travel team soccer continuing to serve youth. He was a diehard Phillies and Eagles fan and possessed a great sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors whether hiking, fishing, hunting, or gardening. Most of all, he loved his family and time spent together.

A celebration of his life will begin on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 10AM with the service beginning at 11 AM at Lower Saucon UCC, 1375 Third Ave, Hellertown, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Luke’s Hospice, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015 or American Bulldog Rescue, 373 Washington Crossing Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
