J. Michael Ulrich, 69, of Gilbertsville, formerly of Pennsburg, Barto, and Reading died August 20, 2013, following an eight year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was a son of the late Calvin H. and Betty Ulrich of Reading. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary (Makowiecki) Ulrich; three sons: Todd and his wife Andrea of Grove City, OH, Dr. Scott M. Ulrich of Ithaca, NY, and Brett and his wife Jana of Gilbertsville; and three brothers: Tom of Bethlehem, Jim and Bill both of Reading; his five very special grandchildren: Jacob and Alex of Grove City, OH, Hannah, Emily and Ryan Michael of Gilbertsville. Mike was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School, and a 1965 graduate of West Chester State College with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He received his Master's Degree in Health Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1966. He also obtained an Educational Administrative Certificate from Lehigh University in 1974. He taught Health and Physical Education in the Upper Merion, Upper Perkiomen, and Souderton School Districts in Montgomery County.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for him during his illness.
At his request he has been cremated and there will be no services. His immediate family will meet and greet friends and family on Saturday, August 31, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main St, Pennsburg PA 18073.
