When my family first moved to Lower Saucon Twsp. in 1964-65 i was in kindergarden and had moved from
Fountain Hill . i attended Madison Elementary in Bethlehem for half of the year and Lower Saucon Elementary
the other half . My Mom & Dad had known the Byerleys and Mom had asked Mrs. Byerley if she would give
me a ride to school along with her son Allen , my classmate throughout public school at SV and a fellow Cub
Scout . i believe they took turns Mrs Byerley and my Mother . i can remember it like yesterday the way Mrs
Byerley would be there on time every time and the smell of her car , i think it was leather or new upolstery .
She drove i believe a Rambler and it was always so clean and orderly , She always had her wallet or
clutch directly next to her (in those days kids would stand on the back floor alot) thats how i got a birds
eye view of the car . She was a very good driver and i felt so secure .
Mrs Byerley was also a Den Mother at cub scouts and they had a great party for Halloween where we
bobbed for apples and everything at her home on Easton Rd .
Mrs Byerley and her family also attended the same church as our family .
I will always remember her kindness , calm demeanor , and mother to all her children .
